Our picnic ended up being a family gathering at my house. It was brutally hot and the people I talked to weren't coming out in the heat. My 93 yr old Mother wanted to come, but decided the heat wasn't wise. Then at the last minute it rained hard at the venue we had chosen so my daughter and her family and I ate picnic food at my house and said a prayer for an end to discrimination and violence against gays. I am thinking about doing it again and inviting people in advance to join us. My Mother and my children feel very passionately about this. We do care. Please share with Josh that this Mother's heart is hurting for all the children and mothers who have to think about where it is safe for them to be public about who they love.
